Elisany Silva - The Tallest Teen Girl in the World

A 14 year old Brazilian teen is looked up to by just about everyone around her. Standing at an amazing 6ft 9 in, she is the tallest girl there.
  

Elisany Silva (Elizane Cruz Silva, Silva da Cruz Elizane) is a Brazilian girl who was born September 27, 1995 and has a height of 206 cm (6′9”) tall. She now ranks among the world’s highest youth.Being so tall isn’t easy, but it helped her to find a job. She will debut on the catwalk ending the designer’s show in Belem, dressed as a bride.

New Zealand Struck by 7.0-Magnitude Earthquake

A powerful 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck much of New Zealand's South Island early Saturday and caused widespread damage.CBS News Correspondent Ben Tracy reports that 75 percent of the city of nearly 400,000 people is without power, the hospital is running on a generator and countless water pipes have burst. 

The quake, which hit 19 miles west of the southern city of Christchurch according to the state geological agency GNS Science, shook a wide area, with some residents saying buildings had collapsed and power was severed. No tsunami alert was issued.

GNS Science initially reported the quake as magnitude 7.4, but later downgraded it after re-examining quake records. The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at 7.0.
